We are thrilled to be hosting Peter Gould (director of Get Thee to the Funnery) at schools throughout the Northeast Kingdom this fall! Last week, Peter performed circus tricks, improv, and more at Woodbury school and led workshops at Albany community School. Peter weaves a variety of performing arts together to engage children in shakespeare, comedy, and self-expression. Kindergarteners, 6th graders, and teachers alike laughed, cheered, and mimed throughout the performance.
For many of these students this was the first time that they were engaging directly with a teaching artist. It was inspiring to see the delight at a joke, the willingness of students to participate, and the joy that this experience gave to so many children.
Next up, Peter will be heading to Craftsbury School, Hazen, Lake Region, Lakeview Union, and hopefully Glover. These assemblies and residencies are supported in part by funds from the Vermont Community Foundation Northeast Kingdom Fund and the Canaday Family Charitable Trust.
